Our Team
Cara L. Hernandez, J.D.
Principal
Cara grew up in a small farming community in Michigan, but after more than 25 years in Houston, she now proudly considers herself a Texan. She earned her law degree from the University of Houston and is a proud member of both the Texas Bar and the Texas Bar College. After spending several years as an Assistant District Attorney and later as a homeschool mom, Cara decided to open her own estate planning practice. Her decision was inspired in part by her grandparents—the peace of mind and ease of transition her grandmother experienced after her grandfather’s passing left a lasting impression. Cara viewed her grandfather’s careful preparations as a true labor of love that continued to express his care even after he was gone. For this reason, she approaches each client’s unique situation with warmth, compassion, and meticulous attention to detail, understanding that estate planning isn’t just paperwork—it’s a legacy of love.
On a personal note, Cara enjoys traveling with her husband and three children, reading historical novels, and solving puzzles. She is also passionate about educating the community through public speaking on estate planning topics. Above all, she finds great fulfillment in working with clients and guiding them through the important process of planning for their future.
Lola Giller
Client Services Director, Outreach
Deeply rooted in family values, Lola grew up in Michigan surrounded by a close-knit family and a love for the outdoors — camping, hiking, and canoeing. Lola Giller earned her bachelor’s degree in Finance from Western Michigan University and began her career with two commercial real estate companies in Georgia and Illinois. Her adventurous spirit later led her abroad, where she lived as an expatriate in Great Britain and Asia, volunteering with the American Women’s Associations in accounting and community projects.
While living overseas, she and her husband raised their son in Asia and adopted their much-loved dog. Lola embraced new cultures, learned some Mandarin, and even practiced Tai Chi along the way. She has a passion for yoga, healthy and delicious food, as well as time in nature.
After returning to the U.S., Lola and her son settled in Houston for the second time. Lola met attorney Cara Hernandez and quickly discovered a strong professional and personal connection. They developed mutual respect that eventually led Lola to join Cara’s estate planning law firm — a role she describes as a true blessing.
“I love working for such a sharp, warm, and thorough attorney,” Lola says. “I’m grateful to be part of a team that helps families protect what matters most.”
Adela Holda
Client Services Director, Documents and Deeds
Born in Washington state, Adela grew up in small town Texas. She attended the University of Texas at Austin as a pre-law student, earning her bachelor’s degree in economics. She moved to Houston, where she worked in oil and gas trusts and then treasury management while earning her master’s degree in business administration from the University of Houston at Clear Lake. She then moved to work as a corporate controller for a mid-size chemical company in downtown Houston. After her first child was born, she decided home was where she wanted and needed to be. She stayed busy with volunteer work, serving on PTA boards and with the National Charity League’s many service opportunities. During this time, she rediscovered her love of writing and soon found her way to the local paper, where she worked first as an editorial assistant before becoming managing editor. Adela eventually found a home with the Law Office of Cara L. Hernandez. As client services director of documents and deeds, Adela is happily drafting and editing once again. Adela has a deep appreciation and love of place and finds deed work especially fulfilling.
Outside of work, Adela enjoys spending time with her husband, daughters and son-in-law, their extended family, friends, and her sweet dog. She is an avid reader and enjoys travels far and wide, as well as the peace of her road trips back home to small town Texas.
